Welcome to Hugo
Hugo Cantor – Head of Security at CHC
Anyone who has worked with us for any length of time (and we are quite difficult to shake off), will remember Oscar, who served as our much-loved head of security for over 11 years.
It was a very sad day when the little chap left us in 2019. But he had definitely earned his retirement in doggie heaven.
Oscar took his duties very seriously. The phone couldn’t ring and the doorbell couldn’t buzz without the accompaniment of a loud and long volley of barks.
Phone calls had to be taken in different rooms in order to have a chance of hearing the other person.
He insisted on personally vetting all visitors. This usually involved sitting on their laps and staring at them throughout entire meetings.
He liked to look out of the office window to check out passers by. If he didn’t like someone, the whole neighbourhood knew about it.
And now we have Hugo. Same breed but very different personality.
Hugo’s more of a digital dog. We appointed him during lockdown, so he’s not had as much personal interaction, but he is an expert at photo-bombing Zoom meetings.
We spend ages tidying up the background and trying to look professional and then boosh – a West Highland Terrier appears on screen.
Hugo’s very good at time management. If he thinks a Zoom meeting or phone call has gone on too long, he lets us know. It starts with a few gentle woofs and if this doesn’t work, he quickly turns up the volume.
